Meet the Team
Jim is the founder and CEO of BrightEdge. In the past eight years Jim has built BrightEdge into a global business that is the trusted enterprise standard for content performance marketing.
Jim is a well-known digital-marketing expert who speaks at conferences, such as Share, Dreamforce, Adobe Summit, and SMX. In addition, Jim is an industry expert with regular columns in Search Engine Land, Marketing Land, ClickZ, and Huffington Post. Jim is widely recognized as the driving force behind enterprise content performance marketing technology, having built the largest and most-widely-adopted platform, which is in use by over 22,000 digital marketing professionals across 8,500 brands around the globe.
Jim holds an MBA from Stanford University, a Master's of Engineering from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science from the University of South Dakota.
Lemuel is the founding CTO of BrightEdge. He brings 10 years of industry knowledge and experience in building enterprise class solutions for the largest companies in the world. Prior to BrightEdge, he was a manager at Ernst & Young where he led IT and security consulting projects for Fortune 100 companies across multiple industry sectors, including high-tech, financial services, health care, and insurance.
Lemuel and his team have been responsible for dozens of digital marketing technology innovations over the years and hold numerous patents for technology such as Search Share of Voice and Search Opportunity Forecasting.
Lemuel holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
As the SVP of Marketing for BrightEdge, Kevin leads the company's go-to-market strategy and a growing marketing team responsible for building the BrightEdge brand, driving demand, and expanding customer relationships. Prior to BrightEdge he was the Chief Marketing Officer of Act-On Software. Kevin was also VP, Product & Market Solutions at ExactTarget and Salesforce.com, where his team fueled the company's growth through a successful IPO in 2012 and acquisition by Salesforce two years later for $2.7 billion. Kevin has a BA from Michigan State University and an MBA from Wake Forest.
Ran Van Riper
Ran is SVP of Customer Success for BrightEdge. In this role, he leads a worldwide team that has been recognized as one of the most innovative companies in customer success by Gainsight. Ran and the Customer Success team are passionate about partnering with BrightEdge customers to help establish, optimize, and transform their digital marketing. Before joining BrightEdge, Ran served as VP of Global Services at Tealeaf, SVP of Global Services at GoodData, and Chief Customer Officer at Moxie, among other achievements.
Ran holds an MA from Harvard University and a BA from Brown University.
As the VP of Strategic Operations, William brings more than 20 years of leadership and experience in Strategy and Operations, working both in the Americas and in Europe for McKinsey & Co, Philips, Havas Media. At BrightEdge, William drives strategy and operations, articulating the set of strategic choices and architecting the company’s trajectory and operations, mobilizing our Senior Leadership. Before joining BrightEdge, William has been EVP Global Research & Modelling at Havas Media the global Media Agency network, he was leader for Corporate Strategy at Philips and Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Co in Switzerland, Brazil and Spain.
William holds both a MSc. Degree in Electrical Engineering Robotics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland and an MBA in Financial Engineering from M.I.T. Sloan in Cambridge, Massachusetts. William has authored papers in Robotics and Robot Vision, Equity Derivative Products, and Media as Risk Hedging.
Albert is BrightEdge's VP of Operations. He brings over 20 years of broad technology and senior management experience from Netscape, AOL, Sybase as well as venture backed private companies. At AOL, Albert was Vice President of Web Clients and Services where he led the team responsible for developing and implementing a new strategy for Search for Netscape and CompuServe, which culminated with the game-changing partnership between AOL and Google. Albert was also VP Marketing at Quantivo, Nominum, and Pivia (now F5), and VP Engineering and co-founder at Neuron Data (IPO as Blaze Software).
Albert holds engineering degrees from Ecole Polytechnique, Paris and Ecole des Telecommunications, Paris, and an MBA from Stanford University.
Cary is VP of People for BrightEdge. He comes to BrightEdge with more than 20 years of experience leading all areas of Human Resources helping companies scale their HR function and leverage their people as part of their competitive advantage Prior to joining BrightEdge, he served as Vice President, Human Resources at WageWorks. His diverse industry experience also includes various leadership roles at Toshiba, Edison International, The Johnny Rockets Group, Inc., SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, and Source Engineering.
Cary holds a B.S. in Management from the Pepperdine University and the following certifications and designations; Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), and Human Capital Strategist (HCS).
Vickie is VP of Global and Corporate Sales and Renewals. Vickie brings over 25 years of sales leadership experience to BrightEdge, including over 11 years at Oracle in various leadership roles - most recently as the VP of Enterprise Sales. Prior to Oracle, Vickie worked at Siebel Systems, leading teams focused on large-scale strategic deals for global enterprise customers.
She has a proven, successful track record in building and growing various enterprise sales teams to great success. In addition, Vickie’s background in developing and implementing go-to market sales programs and strategies brings integration, focus and structure to approach our market.
Vickie holds a BA in Marketing from Miami University and attended executive leadership programs at University of Barcelona and University of Michigan.
Michael is BrightEdge's Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Strategic Growth. He is responsible for new business sales globally and leading the relationship development and customer value for BrightEdge’s most strategic customers across the globe. He has extensive experience building and scaling renewal and growth business functions focused on maximizing customer success. Michael’s leadership has been instrumental in helping BrightEdge become the industry leader and gold standard for customer relationship management. He brings over 19 years of sales leadership and strategic consulting. Michael is passionate about providing a great workplace for sales professionals and the opportunity for professional growth and career advancement.
Prior to joining BrightEdge, Michael spent 14 years working in management consulting with Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen. Michael focused on developing and implementing business strategies to drive performance improvement and business value for C-level executives. Michael holds a BS in Computer Information Systems and a minor in Accounting from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Sammy is the Chief Architect at BrightEdge. He is one of the leading experts in the design and implementation of software architectures for handling massive amounts of data. Prior to joining BrightEdge, he worked at Digg, where he built the search engine platform and introduced the popular concept of "query deserves freshness." Prior to Digg, he worked on large-scale enterprise management software for nine years at Hewlett-Packard.
Sammy holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Tom is BrightEdge's VP of Business Development. He has over 15 years experience in business development, start-up management, and venture capital creating strategic business relationships. Tom was formerly VP of Business Development, of Corporate Development and GM of Business Development & Sales in Microsoft’s consumer services team in Silicon Valley, Senior Director for mobile & embedded device services in Redmond, and an Xbox Tiger Team member. He is also a former Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers, where he co-founded a security technology company serving the US Dept of Defense. Tom has multiple patents pending in the fields of computer architecture, web infrastructure, distributed data systems, and security technology.
Tom has an MBA from the Stanford Business School, an MA from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, an undergraduate degree from Brown University, and completed advanced studies in information technology at MIT.
