BrightEdge Point of View: 320-Character Descriptions in SERPs
Should you be expanding all of your meta descriptions to 320 characters?
Previously, the standard maximum length for meta descriptions was 165 characters. Now Google is showing anaverage of 320 characters for some of the results on the first page. This is a very significant change to the way the Google SERPs work, as meta descriptions are a major factor in influencing searchers to click through to your site.
Does this sudden change mean that you should start rewriting all of your meta descriptions to take advantage of this extra space in which to communicate with prospective visitors and invite them to interact with your brand?
