Jim Yu
Chief Executive Officer and Founder
Jim Yu is the CEO and co-founder of BrightEdge, the enterprise platform for AI search and SEO visibility. He built the company to give enterprise marketers a single source of truth across Google, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Claude. BrightEdge is used by over 20,000 digital marketing professionals across 8,400 brands worldwide. Jim's commentary on AI search has been featured in WIRED, Forbes, The Washington Post, and The Guardian. He publishes BrightEdge Weekly AI Search Insights and delivers the keynote at BrightEdge Spark, the company's enterprise AI search event series.
Before founding BrightEdge, Jim led core platform product teams at Salesforce.com from 2005 to 2007, which delivered the industry's first cloud computing platform. Prior to Salesforce.com, Jim led the product teams at Aether Systems and Mercator Software (now IBM). Jim holds an MBA from Stanford University, a Master's of Engineering from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science from the University of South Dakota.
Lemuel Park
Chief Technology Officer and Founder
Lemuel Park is the CTO and co-founder of BrightEdge. He has led the platform's engineering and product architecture since the company's founding in 2007. Lemuel's team built BrightEdge's Generative Parser, the proprietary AI that has tracked and measured AI search results across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Claude since 2023. BrightEdge research from the Generative Parser has been cited by WIRED, Forbes, and Search Engine Land. Lemuel and his team hold patents in Search Share of Voice and Search Opportunity Forecasting. Before BrightEdge, he was a manager at Ernst & Young, leading IT and security consulting for Fortune 100 companies across financial services, health care, and high tech. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley.
Albert Gouyet
Vice President, Operations
Albert is BrightEdge's VP of Operations. He brings over 20 years of broad technology and senior management experience from Netscape, AOL, Sybase as well as venture backed private companies. At AOL, Albert was Vice President of Web Clients and Services where he led the team responsible for developing and implementing a new strategy for Search for Netscape and CompuServe, which culminated with the game-changing partnership between AOL and Google. Albert was also VP Marketing at Quantivo, Nominum, and Pivia (now F5), and VP Engineering and co-founder at Neuron Data (IPO as Blaze Software).
Albert holds engineering degrees from Ecole Polytechnique, Paris and Ecole des Telecommunications, Paris, and an MBA from Stanford University.
Tom Ziola
Vice President, Business Development
Tom is BrightEdge's VP of Business Development. He has over 15 years experience in business development, start-up management, and venture capital creating strategic business relationships. Tom was formerly VP of Business Development, of Corporate Development and GM of Business Development & Sales in Microsoft’s consumer services team in Silicon Valley, Senior Director for mobile & embedded device services in Redmond, and an Xbox Tiger Team member. He is also a former Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers, where he co-founded a security technology company serving the US Dept of Defense. Tom has multiple patents pending in the fields of computer architecture, web infrastructure, distributed data systems, and security technology.
Tom has an MBA from the Stanford Business School, an MA from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, an undergraduate degree from Brown University, and completed advanced studies in information technology at MIT.
Michael Sundareson
Chief Revenue Officer
Michael is BrightEdge's Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Strategic Growth. He is responsible for new business sales globally and leading the relationship development and customer value for BrightEdge’s most strategic customers across the globe. He has extensive experience building and scaling renewal and growth business functions focused on maximizing customer success. Michael’s leadership has been instrumental in helping BrightEdge become the industry leader and gold standard for customer relationship management. He brings over 25 years of sales leadership and strategic consulting. Michael is passionate about providing a great workplace for sales professionals and the opportunity for professional growth and career advancement.
Prior to joining BrightEdge, Michael spent 14 years working in management consulting with Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen. Michael focused on developing and implementing business strategies to drive performance improvement and business value for C-level executives. Michael holds a BS in Computer Information Systems and a minor in Accounting from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Ran Van Riper
Chief Customer Officer
Ran is SVP of Customer Success for BrightEdge. In this role, he leads a worldwide team that has been recognized as one of the most innovative companies in customer success by Gainsight. Ran and the Customer Success team are passionate about partnering with BrightEdge customers to help establish, optimize, and transform their digital marketing. Before joining BrightEdge, Ran served as VP of Global Services at Tealeaf, SVP of Global Services at GoodData, and Chief Customer Officer at Moxie, among other achievements.
Ran holds an MA from Harvard University and a BA from Brown University.
Sammy Yu
Chief Architect
Sammy is the Chief Architect at BrightEdge. He is one of the leading experts in the design and implementation of software architectures for handling massive amounts of data. Prior to joining BrightEdge, he worked at Digg, where he built the search engine platform and introduced the popular concept of "query deserves freshness." Prior to Digg, he worked on large-scale enterprise management software for nine years at Hewlett-Packard.
Sammy holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
